Timothy Runion has dedicated his career to helping nonprofit organizations of all shapes and sizes build powerful and sustainable fundraising programs.
Tim has more than 30 years of experience as a fundraising professional, in both staff and consulting capacities. He has served as Chief Development Officer for a number of nonprofit organizations, including Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs; The Calhoun School; Trisha Brown Dance Company; and Franklin University Switzerland.
Since 2000, Tim has been an independent consultant, providing clients with a broad range of services, including:
Capital campaign feasibility studies and management
Grant proposals and reporting for corporations and foundations
Strategic planning and development audits
Annual and major gift fundraising appeals
Board and volunteer recruitment and training
Prospect research for individual, corporate, and foundation donors
Interim fundraising management
Personnel recruitment
Tim’s clients illustrate the diversity of the nonprofit sector and span many fields, including animal welfare, arts and culture, education, historic preservation, human rights, international development, religion, and social services. They range from emerging start-ups to globally renowned charitable organizations. Tim works closely with each client to create and execute a customized approach to help meet their unique needs.
In addition to his work across the United States, Tim has advised many UK-based clients on their American fundraising. These clients have included The Foundation for St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London; American Friends of the Royal Court Theatre; American Supporters of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art; American Friends of Sentebale; British American Drama Academy; Sightsavers International; and WaterAid America.
Tim holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Tennessee and has pursued further studies at The Juilliard School and Columbia University. He divides his time between New York City and the Hudson Valley.
